My TV guide

Guilty as charged, I enjoy watching TV. To some critics, I may watch too much TV but in comparison to the average (6 hours a day per household); I am a copasetic (pardon my slang)!

Nonetheless, I am always embarrassed to list the shows that I enjoy watching because I use my fingers to count those shows and the embarrassing part is when it requires both of my hands to name them all. In my justification I have reasoned that there are two people in this TV land: People who watch TV and People who don't; poetic right?

I enjoy talking about the lastest topic on Brothers & Sisters or lavish over what Jack Bauer did in the latest episode of 24. My TV guide is very diverse with drama, action, romance, comedy and suspence. I understand completely that these shows are fiction and have nothing to do with my behavior; I guess the problem is when it affects my behavior. Speaking of affecting my behavior, I am sure my most annoying days are Thursday-Friday when I can't stop singing the latest Glee song!

I guess my question for reflection is should what we watch on TV be a reflection on a persons character? Why and Why not?

Now for what you have all been waiting for and in no particular order:

This Season:

1. Glee
2. Office
3. 30 Rock
4. Hardball with Chris Matthews
5. Brothers & Sisters
6. The Big Bang Theory
7. The Daily Show
8. The Colbert Report
9. Heroes

Next Season:
1. 24

Classics:
1. Friends
2. Soon to be Glee :)

Soon to be watching Glee 9/8c,

Is there a perfect phone? NO, but Iphone is very close!

The hype over the new Verizon Droid has caught my attention recently. Unfortunately I am not impressed with what I am seeing. According to Boy Genius reporting; I think the phone is boxy, buttons are ugly and I have no idea about its softwares user-ability. Boy Genius also got a sneak peak at the Motorola Droid when Motorola released the droid on its site by accident, priceless considering Verizon's I Don't campaign trying to build suspense! From the site specks it seems like a great device but I am looking for something more....color, social networking and style! Iphone is still better in my opinion!

Which brings me to my next thought...

According to Engadget, it's Apple's call whether Iphone joins the Verizon network! I wish they would! I would buy the Iphone over the droid in a heart beat. I am assuming the Iphone users would move to Verizon based on the fact that its a better network! Therefore it would be a benefit for both Apple and Verizon to compromise. Really, in my opinion, Verizon is to blame for not taking Apple's offer the first time and I would suggest that Verizon is the problem-child in this relationship; especially after making the I Don't campaign!

Unfortunately AT&T's coverage is obsolete in my area which forces me to stay with verizon...and in all good reason. I like having service! Maybe the Driod phones will impress me yet! Ball is in your court Motorola!

Still Iphone-less,

Unshunning Higher Grounds. For now :)

I will be the first to admit that since the departure of Moon Monkey, I have had no interest in the newly established Higher Grounds. Its atmosphere, coffee and whole ethos changed completely as Sodexho food service started managing the establishment.

Today my student worker, Mike Wiencek, was hungry and we decided to check out Higher Grounds based on a rumor that students could use their meal pass; which is not true :). They can use their tiger dollars!

To my surprise, Higher Grounds had a Cereal Buffet which made me very happy. For $1.76 you can grab a bowl of cereal for a snack. It was a great place for us to go to grab something quick. Kudos to you, Higher Grounds!

Higher Grounds, consider yourself unshunned for the time being. I would love to see improvements in coffee and customer base. Baby steps :)

Satisfied?

I haven't the experience or education to be a theologian therefore my credibility is based on my personal common sense and personal reflection which dictates that this verse is completely encouraging.

Solomon writes in Ecclesiastes 3:9

"What do workers gain from their work? I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything Beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from the beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their work--this is a gift from God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it."

I have been sharing this verse with my High School students interested in becoming an Olivetian. My hope is that each student takes inventory of personal gifts and callings while determining the next step in their journey. Anyone can "do good;" its more tricky to be satisfied.

I believe that a persons satisfaction is user-specific; engaging the personality of the possessor.

Therefore...my simple inspiration is to walk on the route of satisfaction by living as best as I can; I wonder if google maps has created a street view for that? :)
